As my faithful readers will know, the Sider Institute for Anabaptist, Pietist, and Wesleyan Studies at Messiah College held its annual study conference on November 8, 2012, at the Grantham Church. This year’s theme, “Why We Must Take Our History Seriously,” sparked a great deal of fruitful and thought-provoking commentary and conversation during the day-long gathering.
Those who weren’t able to attend the conference can now view its proceedings online, via the Messiah College YouTube channel. Both panel discussions — one on the three/four theological influences on the Brethren in Christ, and one on the ministry impact of our history — are available, as well as Richard Hughes’ introductory comments. (For some reason, E. Morris Sider’s keynote presentation, “Relating to Our Past: How Brethren in Christ Have Viewed Their History,” is not available.)
These papers (as well as Dr. Sider’s paper) will also be published in the April 2013 issue of Brethren in Christ History and Life, likely in a somewhat more expanded form. For now, be sure to watch — and then add your response(s) in the Comments section below!
