General Conference 2012 Is Underway!

General Conference 2012 is now underway at the Ontario Convention Center in Ontario, California.

From now until July 9, Brethren in Christ leaders from across Canada and the U.S. will “engage on a variety of issues and grow together as a community of faith,” according to the denominational website.

It seems like this could be a historic gathering, judging from the items on the docket:

– The relationship between the Canadian Conference and the General Conference

– Structural adjustments to the General Church staff

– Retirement of Moderator Warren Hoffman and succession of next Moderator in 2013

Unfortunately, I won’t be in California this year to provide coverage of the gathering. (Some of you will remember our coverage of the last General Conference.) Those interested can watch the live stream from the Conference floor, or check out the General Conference blog for periodic updates on the business sessions, evening services, and Bible quizzing finals from the staff.

For some historical context on the Brethren in Christ General Conference, check out our General Conference retrospective.
