The Top Ten Most Religious Cities in America Have Only One Brethren in Christ Church Among Them

It’s true, at least according to Men’s Health magazine (an incredibly reliable source for information about American religion!). Here’s their list:

  1. Colorado Springs, Colo.
  2. Greensboro, N.C.
  3. Oklahoma City, Okla.
  4. Wichita, Kans.
  5. Indianapolis, Ind.
  6. Jacksonville, Fl.
  7. Portland, Ore.
  8. Birmingham, Ala.
  9. Charlotte, N.C.
  10. Little Rock, Ark.

Only one of these “holiest” cities has a Brethren in Christ congregation within its limits: Covenant Fellowship Church is a very small congregation in Colorado Springs.

The denomination used to have a presence in Oklahoma City in the 1990s, but that church has since closed; a cluster of Brethren in Christ churches operate about an hour and a half north of Wichita in the Abilene-Salina-Herrington area.

  1. Chaplain Donna H. says:

So close, yet so far! I’m 1.5 hrs. from Little Rock and would start a fellowship there if not for the distance. But I still dream of one here in northeast-central Arkansas.
