The Elizabethtown (Pa.) Brethren in Christ Church will celebrate its centennial anniversary on November 14, 2010.
According to the church’s website, the celebration will include two morning services with guest speakers, and an evening service dedicated to “singing, sharing, and reminiscing.”
I don’t know much about the history of the Elizabethtown congregation, but I do find it interesting that Elizabethtown is not the first Brethren in Christ congregation to celebrate its centennial this year. Could it be that the denomination experienced some significant growth in the second decade of the twentieth century? An interesting question to examine.
Tom Grosh, a member of the Elizabethtown church and a friend of the search for piety and obedience, will be providing some coverage of this event for our blog following the celebration on November 14.
Stay tuned for Tom’s report!
We’re very excited to be celebrating 100 years at Elizabethtown or EBIC as we call ourselves. Dr. Bob Ives and Dr. Craig Sider are preaching the word in the morning services and we are anticipating an exciting day–not only reflecting on God’s faithfulness in the past, but looking to be God’s faithful servants as we minister into the future. To that end, our anniversary theme has been Deep Roots; Faithful Vision (thanks to our very own Neil Kurtz for the beautiful anniversary logo featured above). And a big shout-out to my son-in-law Drew Shumaker for the hard work he has put into an anniversary video presentation. If you have a connection with EBIC past or present, please consider attending the events on November 14. And Devin, consider this your (and Katie’s) invitation–we know you would love it!

Looking forward to sharing about Elizabethtown Brethren in Christ’s “deep roots, faithful vision”! I’m sure Karen will take some great pictures 🙂
Note: If you’re in the Elizabethtown (PA) area, please join us. If you have other responsibilities/commitments in the morning, please consider coming for a time of singing, sharing, reminiscing, and light refreshments in the evening (7 pm).
